School news

Anna Sparacio and John Michael Murphy, eighth-graders at Signal Knob Middle School, received The Northern Virginia Daily citizenship award.

Sparacio, 14, is the daughter of Melinda Sparacio of Strasburg.

Murphy, also 14, is the son of John and Amanda Murphy of Strasburg.

The award, based on scholarship, citizenship, teamwork and knowledge of health and safety, has been presented to Strasburg middle school students for more than 40 years. The school faculty picks the winners.
