Cory Spiker of Maurertown received a bachelor's degree in agricultural and applied economics from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.
Woodstock
Norman and Nichole Burns of Woodbridge have announced the birth of a daughter, Lily Marie, on June 7 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.
Grandparents are Ken and Glenda Selvage of Woodstock and Norman and Karen Mullins of Appomattox. Great-grandparents are Glenn and Orema McMinn of Edinburg.

Jon Hammersley, Benjamin MacDonald and Philip Sherrard, all of Woodstock, received bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.
Hammersley majored in history, MacDonald in fine arts and Sherrard in hospitality and tourism management.

A 2009 graduate of Strasburg High School, she is the daughter of Stephen and Karen Adams of Fort Valley.
Military news
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Michael V. Segreti graduated with honors from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Joseph Segreti of Quicksburg.
