Strasburg

College news

Jordan Armel, Justin Baker and Ashley Mills, all of Strasburg, received bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.

Armel majored in wildlife sciences, Baker in hospitality and tourism management and Mills in English.

Maurertown

College news

Cory Spiker of Maurertown received a bachelor's degree in agricultural and applied economics from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.

Woodstock

Norman and Nichole Burns of Woodbridge have announced the birth of a daughter, Lily Marie, on June 7 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge.

Grandparents are Ken and Glenda Selvage of Woodstock and Norman and Karen Mullins of Appomattox. Great-grandparents are Glenn and Orema McMinn of Edinburg.

College news

Anthony Beaune of Woodstock received an associate degree in agricultural technology from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.

Jon Hammersley, Benjamin MacDonald and Philip Sherrard, all of Woodstock, received bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.

Hammersley majored in history, MacDonald in fine arts and Sherrard in hospitality and tourism management.

Dennis Hollich of Woodstock, an engineering major at Virginia Tech, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

Edinburg

College news

Rhanda Helsley of Edinburg has been named to the president's list at Longwood University for the spring semester.

Eric Leake of Edinburg graduated from Old Dominion University's Teletechnet program at Lord Fairfax Community College with a bachelor's degree in engineering technology.

Robert Stuart of Edinburg received a bachelor's degree in horticulture from Virginia Tech during commencement ceremonies May 15.

Card shower

A card shower is planned for Louise Bowers, who will celebrate her 88th birthday on July 26.

Her address is 2525 Rittenour Road, Edinburg 22824.

Quicksburg

College news

William "Cody" Corcelius of Quicksburg, a junior political science major at Hawaii Pacific University, has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester.

He is also a member of the debate team.

Fort Valley

College news

Elizabeth Stout of Fort Valley received a master's degree in career and technical education from Virginia Tech during graduation ceremonies.

Leah Adams has received the $1000 Pamplin Scholarship from Virginia Tech.

A 2009 graduate of Strasburg High School, she is the daughter of Stephen and Karen Adams of Fort Valley.

Military news

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Michael V. Segreti graduated with honors from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Joseph Segreti of Quicksburg.

Toms Brook

Card shower

A card shower is planned for Donald L. Crabill, formerly of Toms Brook, who will celebrate his 80th birthday on July 30.
