Strasburg
Roy and Mary Martin of Strasburg have announced the birth of a son, Ian Roy, on July 11 at Winchester Medical Center.
Grandparents are Wayne and Phyliss Darr of Strasburg and Roy and Amy Martin of Grove City, Pa.
College news
Michael Martin earned a Ph.D. in English in May from Temple University.
A 1993 graduate of Handley High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in 1997 from James Madison University and a master's in 2001 from the University of South Carolina. He has accepted a professorship at the University of Charleston.
He is the son of Kristin Martin of Strasburg.
Card shower
A get-well card shower is planned for William "Bill" Bly of Lewisburg, Pa., formerly of Strasburg.

Bradley Wells of Woodstock received Sheetz's $2,000 "Big Joe" scholarship at Bridgewater College.
