Jesse and Ashley Mochoruk of Strasburg have announced the birth of a daughter, Lydia Grace, on June 28 at Winchester Medical Center.
Grandparents are Clark and Rhonda Sager of Strasburg, Valerie Johnson of Toms Brook and Matthew and Jocelyn Mochoruk of Alberta, Canada.

Bradley J. Boyce of Quicksburg graduated from U.S. Army basic training in May and from military police AIT training on July 2 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
He won the distinguished brigade leadership award for Company G, 787th Military Police Battalion, 14th Military Police Brigade.
He is the son of Jennifer and James Halterman of Quicksburg and Daniel and Jennifer Boyce of New Market.

Noella Boyce of Quicksburg graduated with honors with degrees in crime scene investigation and forensics from Mountain State University.
She was also named to the dean's and president's lists.

Garden club news
Janice White discussed gardening tips and Virginia Thompson reported on the spring district meeting at the July 20 meeting of the New Market Garden Club.
Receiving blue ribbons for horticulture were Ms. Thompson, five; Ingrid Flowers, four; Ms. White and Lucille Maddox, three; Ruth Simons and Carolyn White, two; and Ellen Dever and Marion Jorden, one.
Also earning blue ribbons were Ms. Flowers for her arrangement and Ms. White for container planting.
