Navy Seaman Shawn P. Campbell completed U.S. Navy basic training at the Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
The son of Robin K. Campbell of Luray and Robert A. Campbell of Grovetown, Ga., he is a 2005 graduate of Luray High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in 2009.

Samuels Public Library and Royal Oak Bookshop are accepting entries for their holiday writing contest for kindergartners through 12th-graders.
Entry forms, which are due by Nov. 16, are available at the library. Further information is available by calling 635-3153.
