The Shenandoah Area Council of Boy Scouts has joined with Trail's End Popcorn to send U.S. troops overseas popcorn for the holidays.

The containers cost $25 or $40. Checks, made out to the Shenandoah Area Council, can be sent to 107 Youth Development Court, Winchester 22602.

Military news

Army National Guard Pfc. Todd Michael W. Monger has been activated for deployment overseas in support of military operations in Iraq.

Monger, a member of the 229th Military Police Company, based in Virginia Beach, has served in the military for more than a year.

The son of Michael Edward Weber of Winchester, he is a 1999 graduate of Falls Church High School
