Apple Blossom Festival little maids announced

Seven girls have been named little maids in the court of the queen of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival April 23 through May 2.

Ellie L. Bowman is the daughter of Leslie and Michael "Scott" Bowman of Winchester, granddaughter of JoAnn and Robert Whitman of McKinney, Texas, Debbie and Charles Galloway of Winchester and Michael Bowman of Haywood and the great-granddaughter of Elise and George Bowman of Boyce, Nina Galloway of Berryville and Darnell and Rufus "Sonny" Burcham of Winchester. A second-grader at Winchester Academy, she is a member of the Winchester Swim Team and the Winchester Academy Dance Team. She attends the Bethel Lutheran Church.

Mattie G. Davis, the daughter of Mitzi and Bryce Davis of Winchester and the granddaughter of Ellen and Rodney Cowley of Winchester and Lela and Boyd Davis of Stephens City, is a first-grader at John Kerr Elementary School. She plays tee ball in the Frederick County National Little League and attends the First Baptist Church.

Lucy C. Griffin, the daughter of Kate Obenshain and Phillip Griffin II of Winchester and the granddaughter of Helen Obenshain of Richmond and Carolyn and Phillip Griffin of Winchester, is a first-grader at Winchester Academy. She participates in ballet and tap at the Shenandoah Arts Academy and attends the Bethel Lutheran Church and the First Presbyterian Church. Her father was a page in 1975 and her grandmother, Carolyn Griffin, was the festival president in 1997 and 1998.

Maggie K. Heishman, the daughter of Melanie and Tim Heishman of Winchester and the granddaughter of Cynthia Brock Perry and Judy and C.J. Reed, all of Winchester, and Jane and Randy Perry of Jamesville, N.C., is a second-grader at Orchard View Elementary School. She participates in ballet, jazz and soccer and attends the Opequon Presbyterian Church.

Taylor L. Huntsberry is the daughter of Jayme Lynn Huntsberry of Winchester and David Huntsberry of White Post, granddaughter of Tammy and Chris Mason and Kathy and David Huntsberry, all of Winchester, and Deedee and Eddie Cassidy of White Post and the great-granddaughter of Erma and Hugh Forshey, Betty Henry and Getty Huntsberry, all of Winchester, and Fleta and Ralph Mason of Cambridge, Ohio. A second-grader at Indian Hollow Elementary School, she participates in Brownies, gymnastics and attends the Round Hill United Methodist Church. Her father was a page in 1988 and her grandfather, David Huntsberry, was festival president in 2001 and 2002.

Mary K. McKay, daughter of Kate and Ed McKay and the granddaughter of Sharon and Tom Byrd, Ruth and Tom Glass and Joyce and Fred McKay, all of Winchester, is a first-grader at Winchester Academy. She is a member of the Winchester Academy Twirlers, takes gymnastics at Shenandoah Tumblers and is in the children's choir at the Braddock Street United Methodist Church. Her mother was a princess in 1988 and her grandmother, Sharon Byrd, was a junior maid in 1960 and a princess in 1964.

Isabel B. Wilkins, the daughter of Lauralyn Wilkins of Boyce and James R. Wilkins III of Winchester and the granddaughter of Brenda and Thurman Brickhouse of Richmond, Elise Drunagel of Warrenton and James R. Wilkins Jr. of Winchester, is a second-grader at Powhatan School. She participates in ballet at the Vostrikov Academy of Ballet. Her father was a page in 1976, her grandmother, Elise Hortenstine Drunagel, was a junior maid in 1960 and her grandfather, James R. Wilkins Jr., was festival president in 1977 and 1978.
