Neighborhood notes: Winchester

Festival princesses

Five women have been named princesses in the court of the queen of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, April 23-May 1.

Kayla J. Hylton, daughter of Robin and Paul Hylton of Leesburg and granddaughter of W. Eugene Larrick and Hamp and Judy Hylton, all of Winchester, is a junior at Bridgewater College. A biology major, she is a member of the Beta Beta Beta biological society and the Chemistry Club. She is a graduate of Loudoun County High School and a Red Cross volunteer.

Anna L. Kuykendall, daughter of Denise and J. Sloan Kuykendall III of Winchester and granddaughter of Anna and Wilfred Trenary of Stephens City, is a freshman at Lord Fairfax Community College. She is a graduate of Handley High School where she was a member of the tennis team.

Sydney W. Mitchell, daughter of Carroll and Robert Mitchell of Richmond and granddaughter of Ursula and Bruce Behrman of Richmond and Nancy and Bob Mitchell of Winchester, is a sophomore civil engineering major at Virginia Tech. She is a graduate of St. Gertrude High School where she was a member of the varsity volleyball and swim teams and the Pro Nino Club and received the presidential academic honor award.

Anna L. Wilt, daughter of Mary Wilt of Winchester and granddaughter of Tharon Orndorff of Shepherdstown, W.Va., is a sophomore business major at Shepherd University. A graduate of Handley High School, she was a member of the classical guitar ensemble at Shenandoah University in 2008-2009.

Chelsea L. Wingfield, daughter of Cindy and Mike Wingfield of Winchester and granddaughter of Mabel Wetzel of High View, W.Va., and Philip Wingfield of Stephens City, is a freshman biology major at Christopher Newport University. She is a graduate of James Wood High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club, treasurer of the Leo Club and co-captain of the varsity soccer and volleyball teams.
