Neighborhood notes: Winchester

Military news

Army Sgt. Jeremiah J. Rogouski has returned to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska, after being deployed to Afghanistan for one year.

He is one of 3,500 members of the 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Richardson, which served in three eastern provinces of Afghanistan.

While deployed in Iraq, Rogouski was decorated with the Army Commendation Medal and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. This was his second deployment.

A computer detection systems sergeant, he is assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion and has served in the military for five years.

He is the son of Jerry Rogouski of Akron, Ohio, and Middletown.

Winchester
College news

The following Winchester residents received bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech Dec. 18:

Rachel Lamanna, Samuel Lilly, Jonathan Liu, Spenser Sams and Daniel Lower.
Lamanna majored in interdisciplinary studies, Lilly in horticulture, Liu in business information technology, Sams in finance and Lowder in biological sciences.

Clear Brook
College news

James Swigget of Clear Brook earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech on Dec. 18.

Berryville
College news

Ashley Grapes and Matthew Hoyt, both of Berryville, received bachelor's degrees from Virginia Tech on Dec. 18.

Grapes majored in animal and poultry sciences and Hoyt in finance.
