Five local women have been named princesses in the court of the queen of the 83rd Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, April 23-May 1.
Channel R. Ausberry, daughter of Tonya Ausberry of Millwood and Stanley Ausberry of Winchester and granddaughter of Robert Williams Sr. of Poolesville, Md., and Mary Ausberry of Strasburg, is a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University. An English major, she is a graduate of Handley High School.
Alisha B. Coulson, daughter of Susie and Keith Anderson and Richard Coulson and granddaughter of Betty Williams, all of Winchester, is a sophomore elementary education major at Lord Fairfax Community College. She is a graduate of Shenandoah Christian Academy where she was president of the senior class and student council and a member of the Math Club. She was cheer and soccer captain and was named best soccer defender.
Ashley E. Faucher, daughter of Carole and Wade Faucher of Winchester and granddaughter of Pauline and Terrence Thomas of Grantham, England, Sandi and R.H. Palmer of Waycross, Ga., and Bonnie and Richard Faucher of Palm Harbor, Fla., is a senior at Virginia Tech. An industrial and systems engineering major, she is a founding member of the professional engineering fraternity Theta Tau and a member of Alpha Pi Mu and the Industrial Engineering Honor Society. She is a graduate of Handley High School where she was senior class vice president and a member of the National Honor Society and the Handley Scholars.
E. Noel Maddox, daughter of Donna Funkhouser of Wardensville, W.Va., and Landon Maddox of Winchester and granddaughter of George Wallis of Peoria, Ill., and Rhoda and George Kriz of Winchester, is a sophomore industrial mathematics major at Shepherd University. She is a graduate of East Hardy High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society, Math League and the band. She was drumline captain her senior year.
Rachael E. Shirley, the daughter of Kimberly and R.K. Shirley III of Stephens City and granddaughter of Donna and Steve Crim and Eleanor Shirley and Reginald K. Shirley, all of Berryville, is a freshman health sciences major at Lee University. She is a graduate of Sherando High School, where she was student government association president and a member of the National Honor Society, DECA and Academic Team. She was varsity girls' soccer captain at Sherando and played soccer with the Winchester United Soccer Team. She is a member of the Greenway Spirit and Word Fellowship Church in Stephens City.
