Eagle Scouts to march in parade

WINCHESTER -- In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first Eagle Scout, the Shenandoah Area Council for the Boy Scouts of America is inviting 100 local Eagle Scouts to march in the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival's Grand Feature Parade on May 5.

In what it's calling "a lifetime event," the council is inviting 100 scouts of any age to march in the parade, scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. next Saturday. Scouts are requested to wear either their full field uniform or a suit with their Eagle Scout pin attached. The full field uniform consists of the BSA regulation field shirt, pants or shorts, belt, socks, hat and badges appropriate to the rank. Only Eagle Scouts wearing the full Class A uniform of Boy Scouts of America or an appropriate suit will be allowed to participate in the parade, the release said.

Sign up at the council office at 107 Youth Development Court in Winchester or online at www.sac-bsa.org. The deadline to participate is Monday.
