Eyre to be court ambassador

WINCHESTER -- Organizers of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival have announced that Major General Michael Reese Eyre, of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Trans-Atlantic Division, will serve as Court Ambassador at the Coronation of Queen Shenandoah LXXXV-Designate, Jazmyn "Jazz" Dorsett, on the afternoon of May 4, in the Handley High School Auditorium in Winchester.

Eyre will take over the role that Major General Kendall P. Cox did before relinquishing command on Thursday.

Eyre has more than 34 years of service to the United States. He now serves as Deputy Commanding General for Military and International Operations, HQ, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Washington. Eryel studied Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and attended the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College. He also received a BS Degree in Manufacturing and Management Engineering from the University of Vermont and an MS Degree in Packaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Eyre also is the recipient of a Legion of Merit decoration (with Oak Leaf Cluster); a Bronze Star Medal among other service decorations.
