National 9/11 Flag to fly at Apple Blossom Festival

WINCHESTER -- The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival office has announced that The National 9/11 Flag will lead the Firefighters' Parade on the evening of May 4 and be part of the Grand Feature Parade on May 5, on the National Fruit Product Company float.

The National 9/11 Flag is one of the largest American flags to fly above the wreckage at Ground Zero in New York City. Destroyed in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, the flag was stitched back together even years later by tornado survivors in Greensburg, Kan.

The flag also will be on display at a special event at National Fruit Product Company on the morning of May 3 and for the Festival's V.F.I.S.Firetruck Rodeo at Millbrook High School on the morning of May 4.
