College news
Carolyn "Cara" McBroom graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech. in Blacksburg, on May 12 with a BA in English. She is the daughter of Deanna McBroom and John Marsh of Front Royal and the late Hollis McBroom of Manassas, Va. She will be attending New York University in the fall.

James Daniel Harpster of Linden received the Pamplin Leader Scholarship Award from Virginia Tech. The $1000 award is given to student who shows outstanding academic achievement and commitment for leadership and service. Harpster will be a Freshman with the Corps of Cadet at Virginia Tech. He is the son of Jim and Maya Harpster of Linden and is a senior who will graduate from Warren County High School.
