Country act Lonestar to close out Clarke County Fair

The Clarke County Fair will begin Sunday and run through Aug. 18, at the Clarke County Ruritan Fairgrounds at 890 W. Main St. in Berryville.

General admission is $7 for adults, $2 for children and free for preschool children or younger. Season tickets, for 6 days, are $18 for adults and $5 for children.

Sunday
1 p.m. -- Concert tickets available at the ticket office
1 p.m. -- Pig scramble applications available and accepted at the fair office
1 to 3 p.m. -- Youth show poultry and rabbits accepted
3 to 5 p.m. -- Open show poultry and rabbits accepted
3 to 7 p.m. -- Homemaking, photography and fine arts exhibits accepted
5 p.m. -- Opening ceremony, welcome by local officials and Clarke County High School Band and/or Choir, followed by Junior Miss Clarke County Fair Contest and Miss Clarke County Fair Scholarship Pageant

Monday
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. -- All other livestock exhibits accepted
11 a.m. to 7 p.m. -- Homemaking, fine arts and photography exhibits accepted
Noon -- All sheep, goat, beef and hog entries on grounds
12:45 -- Livestock exhibitor's meeting (Show Barn)
1 p.m. -- Pig scramble applications due
1 to 8 p.m. -- Agriculture and horticulture exhibits accepted
1 p.m. -- Weigh and grade market lambs and goats, market steers and hogs
4 p.m. -- Gates Open
5 p.m. -- Beef or chicken barbecue (sauce prepared by Ruritan Club)
6 p.m. -- Carnival opens -- R.C. Cole shows -- Ride all night for $20
7 p.m. -- Little Miss Clarke County Fair Contest (Grandstand), followed by pig scrambles (Clarke County residents only) -- age 6 through 8 and 9 through 18 and ladies

Tuesday
9 a.m. to noon -- Agriculture, horticulture and floral exhibits accepted
9 p.m. -- Sheep shows (Show Barn), rabbit shows, poultry shows
10 a.m. -- Gates open
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- Judge all exhibits except beef, dairy, swine and floral
Noon to 6 p.m. --Judge agriculture/horticultural exhibits
2 p.m. -- 4H and FFA commercial breeding doe show (Show Barn)
5 p.m. -- Beef or chicken barbecue (sauce prepared by Ruritan Club)
5 to 9 p.m. -- Floral exhibits accepted
6 p.m. -- All building exhibits, except floral, open to public
6 p.m. -- Carnival rides open
6:30 p.m. -- Market goat shows (Show Barn)
7 pm. -- Figure 8 demolition derby, followed by lawn mower pull
10:30 p.m. -- All building exhibits closed to public.

Wednesday -- Senior citizen day and children's day
10 a.m. -- Gates open
10 a.m. -- Junior beef showmanship (Show Barn)
10 a.m. -- Judge floral exhibits
1 p.m. -- Sr. citizens horseshoe pitching (55 and over)
1 p.m. -- Berryville Baptist rascals puppet show (Grandstand)
1 p.m. -- Open beef and junior beef heifer show, followed by junior beef steer show (30 minutes after the open show.)
2 p.m. -- Reduced rates for carnival rides
2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m. -- SAWJAC carving demonstrations
5 p.m. -- Beef or chicken barbecue (sauce prepared by Ruritan Club)
5 to 9 p.m. -- Pretty animal contest (Show Barn)
