Rising Wakefield Country Day School seniors Katie Brown and Marc Cugnon completed separate college level courses of study this summer. Brown was in the Virginia DOE Governor's School Spanish Academy -- a three-week, full immersion program held at Washington and Lee University, and Cugnon completed the High School Leaders Program at the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at The University of Virginia.
Brown was one of 60 students in the Spanish program out of over 600 applicants who all applied to attend. Brownwill be an assistant teacher for Wakefield seventh grade teacher Gustavo Tisera.
Cugnon also completed a rigorous acceptance process to attend his course. The Sorensen Institute's HSLP offers concentrated study in Virginia politics and government for high school students from across the state. It's a two week college level three credit course.
