Lions Club donation
The Mt. Jackson Lions Club recent paid its second $5,000 donation toward improvements to the Kids Cove Playground, originally donated to the Town of Mt. Jackson by the Mt. Jackson Moose Lodge.
The Lions Club previously donated $10,000 in 2009 for the building of Kids Cove and another $5,000 since then. It has promised a final $5,000 by the end of this year.
Lion Ronnie Zerkel has spearheaded an initiative to post sign advertisements in the Mt. Jackson Lions Club Park to help raise money to fulfill the club's promise of $25,000 donated over nearly four years.
The wooden structure had been treated and cared for by the town's maintenance department.
The Mt. Jackson Lions Club was founded in 1947 and has been one of the biggest contributors to the success of Mt. Jackson. The motto of the Lions International is "We Serve." For more information, call Lion Secretary Bucky Miller 477-3287 or mail a membership request to P.O. BOX 146 Mt. Jackson, VA 22842.
