Leo and Mary Sue Snarr, of Woodstock, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the home of John and Cheryl Snarr in Woodstock on Nov. 23. The Snarrs were married at the Woodstock United Methodist Church on Nov. 22, 1952 by the Rev. Del Calvert. Leo Snarr, son of the late Leo and Josephine Snarr, and Mary Sue Murdock, daughter of the late Byron and Peggy Murdock, met while Leo attended Massanutten Military Academy during their high school years. The celebration was attended by their children: Steve and Debora Snarr of Woodstock; Tom and Patty Snarr of Edinburg; Karen and Steve Beiler of Lancaster; John and Cheryl Snarr of Woodstock; Paige and Bob Skelly of Radnor, Penn.; and Mary and Clay Long of Bluemont. Their 16 grandchildren and several lifelong friends also were in attendance.
Retired from a career as the owner of Valley Builders Supply Company and a second career as a legislative aid to the Virginia Assembly, Leo Snarr remains actively involved as a volunteer with Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock. His wife is retired from her work as a teller with Bank of America and as the Shenandoah County Voter Registar. In addition to volunteering with church, she is a member of The Masterworks Chorus of the Shenandoah Valley.
