Wedding -- Orndorff-Shifflett

Katie Marie Orndorff and Matthew Gregory Shifflett, both of Strasburg, were married June 23 at Fort Valley Nursery in Woodstock.

The bride is the daughter of Kenny and Jo Ann Orndorff of Strasburg. The groom is the son of Greg and Anna Shifflett of Strasburg.

Pastor Tom Mozingo performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.

The bride wore a strapless, taffeta gown with a dropped ruched bodice that is accented with a crystal brooch and a decorative bow at the top of the skirt. She also wore an elbow-length veil with crystals and pearls around the edges and a headband with crystals and pearls. She carried a bouquet of orange lilies, orange Gerbera daisies, and white spider mums tipped with silver.

The maid of honor was Randi Sager, of Strasburg, friend of the bride. She wore a charcoal, cocktail length chiffon dress with a sweetheart neckline, empire waist and one shoulder strap with appliqué flowers on the strap. She carried a bouquet of orange Gerbera daisies.

Bridesmaids were Vanessa Mabie, of Front Royal, and Juliann Abercombie, of Washington, D.C. Both are friends of the bride. Their attire and flowers were identical to that of the maid of honor.

The best man was Eric Michael, of Strasburg, friend of the groom.

Groomsmen were Colby Shifflett, of Strasburg, brother of the groom; and Trey Maughan of Midland, Ga., friend of the groom. Ushers were Luke Ramsey and Adam Beattie, both friends of the groom from Strasburg.

The flower girl was Paige Hiserman, friend of the couple. Ring bearer was Ryson Walters, friend of the couple.

A reception followed at Fort Valley Nursery.

Prenuptial entertainment included bridal showers given by the maid of honor, the bride's mother and aunt, Sandy Hook Elementary School staff and Riverside Church Ladies. The rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents at the home of the groom's grandparents.

The bride, a graduate of Strasburg High School, received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Radford University. She is a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The groom, a graduate of Strasburg High School, received a bachelor's degree in athletic training from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and a master's degree in kinesiology and sports science from East Tennessee State University. He is an athletic trainer at East Rockingham High School.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple is living in Strasburg.
