National Park Service seeks volunteers

Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park is now seeking motivated and qualified volunteers to assist the park with visitor services needs and other special projects. The park, which just celebrated its 10th anniversary last month, will open a new Visitor Contact Station in Middletown this spring and will need assistance staffing that facility.

Volunteers will be needed in order staff and operate the Contact Station.
The exact date of the Contact Station's opening and its hours of operation are still undetermined, but the Park Service seeks volunteers to properly orientate and train them during the winter. Prior experience is not required, although potential volunteers will be asked to work a minimum of four hours a week.

Those interested will be asked to fill out an application at www.nps.gov/cebesupportyourpark/volunteer.htm.

Once applications are received, there will be a review period, and applicants will be called for an interview in early February. If accepted into the Volunteer-In-the-Parks (VIP) program, training will begin in early March, and volunteers will start as soon as the Contact Station opens. For more information or questions call 540-869-3051.
