Local charities to benefit from Fabulous Fashion Finds

By Moazama Rafiqzad -- Daily Correspondent

After celebrating its 70th anniversary on March 23, Quota International of Winchester is sponsoring its next big event to help local charities.

Fabulous Fashion Finds on June 13 at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley will help Quota of Winchester raise money for the needy while offering prizes to those who attend.

Estelle Sanzenbacher, chairperson for Fabulous Fashion Finds, said The Quota of Winchester committee organized last year's sale in an effort to have fun and raise money at the same time. The event drew in 90 women, but the committee hopes to have even more people this year, she said.

"Our event is a great ladies night out with food from The Bistro in Winchester and great raffle prizes donated by local businesses," she said.

Over the past few years The Quota Club of Winchester has donated over $25,000 to local charities such as Salvation Army, Blue Ridge Hospice and the Youth Development Center. It has also donated $10,000 to local students for college scholarships.

The club supports the community by focusing on women, children and the hearing impaired, recently providing hearing aids to a 5-year-old, Sanzenbacher said.

"We provide Easter baskets to sick and needy children, hats and gloves to local school children, blankets to local families, and Christmas stockings and gifts to Home Health [Services] shut-ins. Among other things, we serve meals at Jubilee Kitchen and to the homeless through WATTS," Sanzenbacher said.

She said Quota hopes to make Fabulous Fashion Finds an annual event to help support the community.

"We want ladies to come out and have some nice refreshments, buy a ticket on the great raffle items and find a fabulous fashion find to take home with them," Sanzenbacher said.

"The museum is a beautiful venue as well."

The event will be held at The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, at 901 Amherst St., Winchester, from 6 to 8 p.m. June 13. Tickets may be purchased for $12 at The Daily Grind on Jubal Early Drive, through Quota members and even at the door on the day of the event. Wine and food are included in the price of the ticket. There will be plenty of parking available.

The club will accept gently used women's clothing in good condition, as well as handbags, accessories and jewelry. Donations made by May 3 are tax deductible. Locations are not set up for donation drop-offs, but club members will meet those willing to make a donation by The Village Market & Bistro, at 2 S. Loudoun St. in Winchester. For more information or to arrange a donation, call Estelle Sanzenbacher at 410-596-5931.
