Each week in the month of August, we'll feature a signature cocktail from one of the area's many bars. Last week, we profiled the Startini at Front Royal's Lucky Star Lounge.

BASYE -- It's so deceptively smooth, it comes with its own two-drink maximum.

The newest cocktail at Club 45, the Flaming Dr Pepper, comprises a half-pint of Bud Light -- or a beer of your choice -- and a shot of amaretto and Bacardi rum. And according to bar owner Lisa Dellinger, it tastes exactly like the popular soft drink.

"When you have drinks like that, you drink them so fast," she said. "You get two and then you have to move onto something else.

"It's not unheard of to get a third one, but that would be down the road after you've been chilling out."

A patron visiting from out of town suggested the drink to them earlier this summer, and "now it's [selling] like crazy," she said, rivaling their popular Jell-O shooters and Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey shots.

Although other bars might light them on fire, lending to their flammable name, Club 45 opts for the safer route.

Situated just outside of Bryce Resort in Basye, the bar still sees a fair amount of traffic in the summer from locals, golfers and vacationing families, Dellinger said.

"Ski season is wonderful; it's fast and furious for two months, but after the initial two-week break, everyone has to go back to school and work, so they're only coming on the weekends," she said. "In the summertime, they're here all week."
