Author publishes second book in mystery series
When it comes to detective work, being dead has its benefits.
Just ask Oliver “Tuck” Tucker, ghost detective and central protagonist in “Dying for the Past,” the second book in the Gumshoe Ghost mystery series from Winchester author TJ O’Connor.
“He can eavesdrop on people’s conversations and learn things about the story,” O’Connor said about his lead investigator, “and that moves the story forward.”
After solving the case of his own murder in the first book, “Dying to Know,” Tucker is back at work, unraveling the murder of a philanthropist with ties to the Russian mob and 1930s gangsters.
O’Connor described the book as “more cerebral than action-based,” and said it doesn’t contain any graphic sex, extreme violence or obscene language.
“It’s been compared to ‘The Thin Man’ and ‘Topper’ and modern-day ‘Ghost’ meets Richard Castle [of ‘Castle’] of all things,” O’Connor said. “After the first few pages of the novel, you kind of forget he’s a spirit telling a story.”
“Dying for the Past” will be sold at the Winchester Book Gallery, Books-A-Million and on http://www.amazon.com.
The 395-page book is published through Midnight Ink Books. O’Connor has a three-book deal with the publisher.
