MAURERTOWN — There might not be any meal more evocative of home and family than a piping hot bowl of soup.

From noon to 4 p.m. each Saturday this month, the North Mountain Vineyard and Winery hosts its Soup Saturdays program, serving up freshly prepared soups.

But these aren’t your typical chicken noodle soups.

Soups scheduled for the remainder of January are Creamy Bavarian Potato Soup this Saturday, Shrimp and Corn Chowder on Jan. 24 and French Provincial Beef, Mushroom and Barley Soup on Jan. 31.

Musicians performing in the winery’s great room include Wildflower on Saturday, and Rick Burnette, Bill Foster and Travelin’ Jack on Jan. 31.

A fire will blaze in the winery’s hearth, sunlight will stream through the windows overlooking the vineyard and Ginger Lily the cat will keep guests cozy, owner Krista Jackson-Foster said.

“A lot of people enjoy it because it’s something warm on a winter afternoon and it’s not expensive,” she said.

The cost for attending Soup Saturdays is $8 per person.

Reservations are recommended for the event. To make a reservation, call the winery at 540-436-9463.

North Mountain Vineyard and Winery is located at 4374 Swartz Road in Maurertown.
