‘Talent!’ auditions begin this month
As the 88th Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival looms on the horizon, three upcoming rounds of auditions aim to pick out the best of the bloom.
The second annual Apple Blossom’s Got Talent! competition features all types of performers, singers and dancers in a chance to win up to $5,000.
The first round of auditions begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Two more nights of auditions are scheduled for Feb. 11 and March 11. Semifinals will be held on April 8 and finals will be on April 29. All of the shows will be held in the Bright Box Theater.
Prizes for the winners of the final competition, held during the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, are $5,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place and $500 for third place.
The deadline to register as a contestant for the first round of auditions is Sunday.
A sample of talent is required with each application, and can be submitted as a URL link or MP3 file. There is a $10 application fee.

A maximum of 30 contestants will be selected to perform at each of the three auditions, with 10 winners from each round advancing to compete in the semifinals. Out of the 30 semifinalists, 12 contestants will be selected for the final competition.
Tickets for the three audition events are available online and at the festival office at 135 N. Cameron St. in Winchester.
