Master Gardener scholarships available
March 31 is the deadline to apply for scholarships being awarded by the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association.
Five $200 scholarships will be awarded to 2015 graduating seniors in the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren.
Scholarship eligibility is based on academic achievement, with a focus on coursework in agriculture, horticulture and other related sciences. Additional eligibility criteria include student volunteerism and membership (preferably related to agricultural or horticultural organizations such as FFA or 4-H, but also including school, church or community-based organizations), as well as an interest in pursuing a career in agriculture, horticulture or other related sciences.
Letters of recommendation and a letter outlining the student’s goals and reasons he or she deserves the scholarship are also required.
