Apple Blossom princesses selected to serve

Six area women have been selected to serve as princesses in the court of Queen Shenandoah LXXXVIII during the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival April 24 through May 3. They are:

Courtney Aldrich. She is representing Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, where she is a senior. She is the daughter of Mary and Stephen Aldrich of Daytona Beach, Florida, and the granddaughter of Carole Aldrich of Scio, New York, and the late Carol Aldrich.

Catherine Baker. She is representing Lord Fairfax Community College, where she is a freshman majoring in emergency medical services. She is the daughter of Lisa Baker of Avenue, Maryland, and William Land of Manteo, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Patricia and Phillip Baker, of Gore, and Jean Land of Asheville, North Carolina, and the great-granddaughter of M. Wahnitahe Baker of Mechanicsville, Maryland.

Antoinette Jones. She is representing Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia, where she is a sophomore majoring in criminal justice. She is the daughter of Jacquelyn Jones, of Annapolis, Maryland, and the granddaughter of the late Dora Lee Williams.

Emily Menhorn. She is representing Shenandoah University, where she is a senior majoring in music therapy. She is the daughter of Joan and Norman Menhorn, of Berlin, Pennsylvania, and the granddaughter of Jean Bush, of Berlin, and the late Harold Bush, Peggy Menhorn and William Menhorn.

Alexandra Roy. She is representing Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, where she is a senior. She is the daughter of Linda and Jaimie Crafton, of Middletown, and the granddaughter of Angie and Roger Wright, of Front Royal, and the late Helen Crafton and William Crafton.

Heather Swing. She is representing the Virginia Horticultural Society. She is a sophomore at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown. She is the daughter of Alexis and Bruce Swing, of Winchester, and the granddaughter of Bucky Fuller, of Winchester, and the late Janet Fuller, Kathleen Swing and James Swing. Heather is a graduate of Sherando High School.

The princesses will participate in the coronation ceremony on May 1 at John Handley High School and ride on the queen’s float in the Grand Feature Parade on May 2.
