Rev. George J. and Doris Reed
The Rev. George J. and Doris Reed, of Cross Junction, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 10 with a luncheon given by the couple’s son in law and youngest daughter, Todd and Pamela Allen, as well as by Mary Wine and Punky McKinney.
Attending the celebration was Doris Reed’s 94-year-old mother, Mary G. Lunsford.
Chad Longerbeam opened the luncheon with a word of prayer. Wine prepared the food and McKinney attended the wish basket where guests had an opportunity to write down wishes for the couple. Erika Allen, one of the couple’s granddaughter, made the gold and white fondant three-tiered cake, and another granddaughter, Faith Allen, took photos.
The Reeds were married April 10, 1965, in Remington, by Rev. Fawler.
The Reeds have two daughters, Teresa Ray of Perry, Georgia, and Pamela Allen of Forest; six grandchildren: Stephanie Pabon, Christopher Wotring, Joshua Wotring, Erika Allen, Faith Allen and Julia Allen; and two great-grandchildren.
