Anniversary: Ray and Linda Hawkins

Linda and Ray Hawkins

Ray and Linda Hawkins, of Mount Jackson, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party given by their children on May 23 at Wakeman’s Grove Church of the Brethren in Edinburg.

The couple were married June 12, 1965, by the late Rev. Alvin Masters of the United Church of Christ in Edinburg.

Ray Hawkins is the son of the late Charlie and Gladys Stickley Hawkins, of Mount Jackson. Linda Hawkins is the former Linda Mitchell, daughter of the late Alma Dellinger Helsley, of Mount Jackson.

They are the parents of Lorrie Silvius, Tim Hawkins and Nathaniel Hawkins and have two grandchildren, Ashley Wood and Lincoln Hawkins.

About 55 guests attended the party. Joy Weinhold, sister-in-law of Lorrie Silvius, made the gold and white butter cream and fondant three-tiered cake. Guests brought gifts, enjoyed refreshments and wrote down favorite memories of Ray and Linda Hawkins.

They recently relocated to Marietta, Georgia.
