Percussion party held at library
Wendy Whitford, an instrumental music teacher at North Fork Middle School, Joanne Thompson and middle- and high-school band and orchestra students, presented a percussion party June 25 at the New Market Area Library as part of the library’s summer reading program.
Whitford read “The Remarkable Farkle McBride” and had students play sounds from the book on the violin, flute, trumpet and drums.
Whitford and Thompson acted out the two characters, a pig and an elephant, from the book “Listen to My Trumpet.” Children also played instruments as Whitford read “Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb” and “The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.”
