County holds meeting on Sherando Park plan
The Frederick County Parks and Recreation Department plans to take public input as it updates the vision for Sherando Park near Stephens City.
The department intends to hold a meeting from 6-8 p.m., Sept. 23, at the Sherando High School Parks and Recreation Community Center. Parks and Stewardship Planner Jon Turkel said the department is updating the master plan for the north side of the park, a process last done in 2002. Parks and Recreation Commission members will be on hand to hear from the public.
The update area covers approximately 200 acres, much of which remains undeveloped. Amenities in the area include parking, two softball fields, two soccer fields, an 18-hole golf course, three miles of mountain-bike trails and 1.25 miles of paved, shared-use path.
