The Department of Motor Vehicles expects to reopen the truck scales on Interstate 81 near Stephens City after Thanksgiving.
The scales on the southbound side of the highway closed recently for routine maintenance, Brandy Brubaker, public relations and media liaison, said Friday. The agency is replacing the scale decks and conducting other work on the facility, Brubaker said. The DMV plans to reopen the scales on Nov. 30, she said.
The agency closed the scales on the northbound side for about a month and reopened the facility last week after performing similar work, Brubaker said. The northbound scales closed Tuesday for maintenance and then on Wednesday for Veterans Day.
Trucks had other scales they could use while the facilities were closed.
