First Friday concert
The Bowman Shannon Cultural Art Center will hold its First Friday concert from 7 to 10 p.m. today at 5998 Main St., Mount Jackson.

The Kiwanis Club of Winchester will hold its annual fall community pancake day, benefiting the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the War Memorial building in Jim Barnett Park.

Bright Box Theater
The following will be held at Bright Box Theater, 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester.
• Today: 8 p.m., concert featuring Street Corner Symphony, runners-up on the second season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, performing a cappella, barbershop, pop and rock music. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
• Saturday: 9 p.m., Chattanooga-based bluegrass band Strung Like A Horse performs followed by acoustic band Brokedown Hustlers. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

The Art Group Gallery will host an opening reception for November artist Ellen Fairchild-Flugel from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bowman Shannon Cultural Arts Center in Mount Jackson.

Veterans Appreciation Day
The Kernstown Battlefield Association will host a Veterans and Active Military Appreciation Day from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at 610 Battle Drive, Winchester behind Creekside Mall.

Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will present Cavaliers, Courage and Coffee from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Mount Bleak House.
The Gray Ghost Interpretive Group will tell stories of Col. John S. Mosby and his Rangers in the Crooked Run Valley and the role of area safe houses to Mosby’s operation.

The Artists of Rappahannock will hold a two-day studio and gallery tour featuring eight galleries and 21 working studios from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Washington, Virginia.

Veterans Day parade
The City of Harrisonburg will honor our nation’s heroes at the annual Veterans Day parade from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday on Main Street.
The parade route begins at the Rockingham County Administration Building, 20 E. Gay St., and travels south on Main Street to the City Municipal Building. Following the parade, the Harrisonburg High School Symphonic Band and Honors Choir will perform.

Sgt. Pepper’s concert
The Art of Time Ensemble will perform music from the Beatles’ classic album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” with new arrangements from jazz, pop and classical composers at 8 p.m. today at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas.
