Library party
The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will host a New Year’s Eve party from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday for all ages.

Museum events
The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum will celebrate New Years Eve with the following activities on Thursday at 19 W. Cork St., Winchester:
• 10 a.m.-noon: party.
• 3 p.m.: Casey Carle’s Bubble Mania, Glitterbugz facepainting and magician Uncle Bean.
• 10:45 p.m.-12:15 a.m.: fireworks display on Sky Level, open mic night in conjunction with the Shenandoah Arts Council on the garden rooftop. Bring picnic blankets (no chairs). Hot cider and snacks will be served. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Space limited. Cost: $15 for museum and SAC members or $20 for all others.
General admission: $8 for museum members or $10 for nonmembers, or First Night button required. Information: 540-722-2020.

Closings
The following locations will be closed for the New Year’s holiday:
• All branches of the Handley Regional Library (Handley, Bowman and Clarke County) will be closed Thursday and Friday.
• The New Market Area Library will close at 5 p.m. Thursday and remain closed through Friday.
• The Shenandoah County Extension office will be closed Friday.
• The Shenandoah County Landfill will be closed Friday. Citizen convenience sites will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Woodstock Methodist
The Woodstock United Methodist Church will hold a New Year’s Eve service with Holy Communion at 11:45 p.m. Thursday.
