Elks, police team up during holiday

On Dec. 19, Front Royal Elks Lodge 2382 and the Front Royal Police Department officers invited 80 children and their families to the lodge to meet Santa.

On Dec. 19, Front Royal Elks Lodge 2382 and the Front Royal Police Department officers invited 80 children and their families to the lodge to meet Santa.

After arriving by police escort, Santa was helped with distributing toys, purchased by the Elks with the 2015-16 Promise Grant, and $2,500 from the Elks National Foundation.

Fox’s Pizza, Melting Pot and Anthony’s Pizza deliveredpizza and desserts to serve everyone. Wal-Mart in Front Royal donated 40 food boxes with turkey and all the trimmings.

On Dec. 21, gifts were delivered to Social Services for Foster Children and the next day the lodge secretary, accompanied by Strasburg Police Chief Tim Sutherly, delivered toys to a family of five in Strasburg. The event was coordinated by Front Royal police officer Robbie Seal and lodge secretary Jane Wine.
