Mt. Calvary UCC
The Rev. Barbara Rhodes will lead an Ash Wednesday and Holy Communion service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Calvary United Church of Christ, west of Woodstock.
Winchester Trout Unlimited will host a “bar fly” event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Escutcheon Brewing, 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester.
Anglers will have an opportunity to learn more about the organization and to tie some fishing flies. Participants are encouraged to bring their fly-tying vise and any food they wish to eat or share (no drinks). Information: Bill at 540-722-2620.
The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock has announced the following 4-H activities:
• The 4-H Goat Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Extension office.
• 4-H and FFA steer entries are due Thursday at the Extension office.
• The Little North Mountain 4-H Shooting Education Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Baptist Church in Strasburg.
Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown will hold a Valentine’s Day dessert party from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday to recruit new members for its volunteer Docent Guild and Service League.
Volunteers serve as guides, admissions desk staff and special event and museum shop assistants.

The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will host a Chocolate Festival from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Children of all ages can bring their sweethearts (parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc.) to participate in craft stations and for special sweet treats. Information: 984-8200.
The Selah Theatre Project will host a benefit “V-Day” celebration featuring three nights of the play “The Vagina Monologues” at 30 E. 8th St., Front Royal.
A reception will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the play at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
The event will benefit the Phoenix Project, a nonprofit organization for victims of domestic violence.
V-Day is a global activist movement founded by “Vagina Monologues” author Eve Ensler to end violence against women and girls. James Madison University’s senior dance majors will showcase their work with concerts at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre in Harrisonburg. Tickets, which are $10, can be ordered by calling 540-568-7000 or online at www.jmuforbescenter.com.
The Shenandoah Valley Civil War Era Dancers will teach early American period dancing (line, circle, square sets and waltzes) at 5 p.m. Thursday at Samuels Public Library in Front Royal. Dancing starts at 6 p.m. No experience necessary.
