Apple Blossom princesses selected to serve

Six area women have been selected to serve as princesses in the Court of Queen Shenandoah LXXXVIII during the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival April 24 through May 3. They are:

Isabella Eyles attends Bridgewater College where she is a junior majoring in business administration with a minor in equine studies. She is the daughter of Karen and William Eyles, of Millwood, and the granddaughter of Ruth Bridgeforth, of Winchester, Marynell and Walter Eyles, of Middlebrook, and the late William Bridgeforth Jr. She is a graduate of Clarke County High School.

Emma Foster attends George Mason University where she is a sophomore majoring in English with a minor in theatre. She is the daughter of Julie and Rick Foster, of Winchester, and the granddaughter of Jeraldine Hickerson, of Winchester, and the late James Hickerson and Evelyn and Charles Foster. She is a graduate of John Handley High School.

Isabel Hardy is a first-year student at the University of Virginia majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Martha and J. Cullen Hardy, of Winchester. She is the granddaughter of Beatriz and Luis Borrero, of Winchester, and the late Audrey and Robert Hardy. She is a graduate of John Handley High School.

Rachel Higgs is a sophomore at Virginia Tech majoring in marketing and management. She is the daughter of Lisa and Charles Higgs, of Stephens City, and the granddaughter of Joan and David Smallwood, of Winchester, and Fern and Johnnie Lockhart, of Front Royal. She is a graduate of Sherando High School.

Caroline Hoxton attends Lord Fairfax Community College where she is a freshman majoring in pre-nursing. She is the daughter of Kimberly and Frederick Hoxton, of Winchester, and the granddaughter of Peggy and Jimmy Dix, of Winchester, and Connie and Arch Hoxton, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. She is a graduate of John Handley High School.

Allison Yost is a freshman studying elementary education at James Madison University. She is the daughter of Stacey and Rob Yost, of Winchester, and the granddaughter of Melanie and Roger Oates, of Winchester, Shirley Yost, of Clearbrook, and the late Robert Yost. She is a graduate of James Wood High School.

The princesses will participate in the coronation ceremony on May 1 at John Handley High School and ride on the queen’s float in the Grand Feature Parade on May 2.
