Junior Teen
Shannon Vernick, daughter of Michael and Tammy Vernick of Front Royal, has been selected to participate in the 2016 Miss Junior Teen pageant competition on April 3. She is an eighth-grade student at Warren County High School.

Library activities
The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will hold the following activities:
• Thursday: 4:30 p.m., Lego Club will meet.

Festival Guild
The Shenandoah Valley Music Festival Guild will hold a luncheon meeting at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Southern Kitchen Restaurant in New Market.

The cost is $20 per person. Musical entertainment will be provided by vocalist Julia Verba, of Luray, and keyboardist Paul Ackerman, of Stanley. Members are encouraged to wear green for St. Patrick’s Day.

Buffet supper
St. Mary’s Pine Lutheran Church in Mount Jackson will hold a St. Patty’s buffet supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday featuring traditional Irish food.

The cost is $15 per person to eat-in or $12 per person for take-out.

Laurel Center
The Laurel Center will offer a four-week support group for survivors of sexual assault and non-offending caregivers of child survivors from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Art will be used as a healing tool for empowerment and enhanced self-esteem. Registration is required by calling Leigh at 540-667-6160.

Environmental program
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host an education program at 6 p.m. Thursday on the largest environmental cleanup program.

The guest speaker will be Barry Gaffney, retired senior executive of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Program, who will discuss the atomic age and the cleanup program’s successes and challenges. Information: 540-635-3153

Tech Thursday
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host Third Tech Thursday at 6 p.m. Bob Way, a Web design developer and computer tutor, will discuss ways to safeguard your computer against intruders. Registration required by calling 540-635-3153.

Grain marketing
The Grain Marketing Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Denny’s Restaurant in Mount Jackson.

Mount Olive Baptist
Mount Olive Baptist Church in Middletown will host the first of weekly night prayer and Bible studies at 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Information: 540-667-7081.

Music series
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host octogenarians Ralph and Fred during its lunchtime music series at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Those attending are encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy some Irish tunes. Information: 540-635-3153.

Pancake supper
The Woodstock Christian Church Men’s Fellowship will hold a pancake supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. A free-will offering will be accepted to benefit local charities.

Game night
Bowman Library in Stephens City will host game night from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday for middle- and high-school students to play electronic, card and computer games. Chaperons will be present and snacks will be provided. Information: www.handleyregional.org.
