Card shower

A card shower is planned for Audrey Funkhouser, who will celebrate her 90th birthday on March 6. Cards can be sent to 1982 Barbershop Road, Edinburg 22824.

Easter concert

The Lebanon/St. Stephen’s Community Choir will present an Easter concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Church in Fishers Hill.

 

Pancake breakfast

The Fort Valley Ruritan Club will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sunday at the fire hall.

A free-will offering in memory of Grayson Funk will be accepted. Proceeds will be split between the fire department and the Fort Valley Museum.

 

Extension activities

The Shenandoah County Extension office in Woodstock has announced the following activities:

  • Rehearsal for the county 4-H Share the Fun will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
  • The Toms Brook 4-H Club and Cloverbuds will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church.

Fair judging school

March 11 is the deadline to register for a fair judging school sponsored by the District 4-H All Stars and 4-H Leader’s Association on March 19 at the Shenandoah County Government Center in Woodstock.

The school is open to anyone interested in becoming certified to judge canning, Legos, arts and crafts, candies and baked goods at the county fair.

A small registration fee will be charged. Lunch will be included.

Chili Fest

The Town of Woodstock Enhancement Committee is seeking teams of chili lovers and chefs to compete in the first Woodstock Chili Fest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 2 at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds. The deadline to enter is March 23.

The top prize is $500, second place is $250 and the team who has the best showmanship at its tent will win $100.

The event will also feature music by The Instigators, a beer and hard cider garden, games and activities for kids and adults and food trucks by area vendors.
