Prayer, Bible study
Mount Olive Baptist Church in Middletown will hold a weekly prayer and Bible study at 7 p.m. beginning Thursday. The topic will be “Mary, the Mother of the Son of God.”

Substance abuse series
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will host the first of a five-part series on substance abuse from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in cooperation with Northwestern Community Services and the Warren County Coalition.
The first session will be “Myth vs. Reality: an Introduction to How Someone Becomes Addicted.” Attendees will learn about the biological and medical mechanisms of addiction as well as what can be done to spread awareness. Information: 540-635-3153.

Library movie
The Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg will show the movie “The Good Dinosaur” at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Popcorn will be served.

Food program
Shenandoah County Public Schools has announced the sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Meals will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. from April 5 through June 24 at Ashby Lee Elementary School, 480 Stonewall Lane, Quicksburg. The cost for meals is based on income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-price meals or free milk.
