Weekend Events

The following are some of the area events that will be held this weekend:

 

Quilt program
Kyra E. Hicks, a quilter, historian and author, will talk about the Roosevelt Postage Stamp Quilt at 1:30 pm. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Church in Harrisonburg.

The lecture is presented by the Virginia Quilt Museum. Hicks will sign copies of her book following the lecture. Cost is $10 for students, $15 for museum members and $20 for nonmembers. Information: www.vaquiltymuseum.org/events.

Library movie
Handley Library will show the G-rated movie “My Neighbor Totoro” at noon Saturday.

AKC dog show
The Shenandoah Valley Kennel Club will hold an American Kennel Club dog show Saturday and Sunday at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds in Harrisonburg. Information: 540-434-0005.

At area theaters
• Bright Box Theater, 15 N. Loudoun St., Winchester,  Lilt, the duo of Tina Eck on flute and whistle and Keith Carr on bouzouki, banjo and mandolin, will give a free concert in conjunction with Old Town Winchester’s St. Paddy’s Celtic Fest at 7 p.m. Saturday.  Information: 540-665-2878, www.brightboxwinchester.com.
• The Schultz Theater will present “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” at 7 p.m. today and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at 9357 N. Congress St., New Market. Tickets are $15 for adults or $12 for students. Information: 740-9119 or www.schultztheatre.com.

Barns of Rose Hill
At the Barns of Rose Hill, 95 Chalmers Court:
• Today: 7:30 p.m., the film “Finders Keepers” will be shown. Tickets are $8 or $5 for Barns of Rose HIll and Magic Lantern Theater members.
• Sunday: 3 p.m. mountain dulcimer workshop by Madeline MacNeil. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door; 6:30 p.m. concert by Madeline MacNeil, tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and free for children 12 and under.

Boat show
The National Capital Boat Show will be held from noon to 8 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. Admission is $10. Parking is free. Information: Dave Body at 804-337-6479 or www.gsevents.com.

Women in aviation
The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum will celebrate the accomplishments of women in aviation and space exploration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Steven F.
