Card shower
A card shower is planned for Denzil Heishman, who will celebrate his 92nd birthday on Saturday. Cards can be sent to 8422 Middle Road, Strasburg, VA 22657.

Church breakfast
St. Stephens Lutheran Church will hold a pancake breakfast 7-10 a.m. Saturday. A free will offering will be accepted to benefit the building fund.

Preschool Day
Antioch Church of the Brethren will celebrate its Little Duckling Preschool at 11 a.m. Sunday. Preschool children and their families are invited to participate, graduates will be recognized and information about the preschool will be shared. Information: 540-459-3661.

Dance party
Bowman Library will hold a Dance Party at 11 a.m. Monday and May 9 for toddlers, preschoolers and their grownups to boogie down. Information: www.handeyregional.org.

Art exhibit
The Duke Hall Gallery in JMU’s Forbes Center will host a photography exhibit by James Crable from Monday to June 24. Crable is an emeritus professor of art and history at JMU. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad. Admission is free. Information: www.jmuforbescenter.com

Humane Society
The Humane Society of Warren County will operate a concessions stand at 6 p.m. Monday to May 7 during the Front Royal Fraternal Order of Police Carnival at Bing Crosby Stadium. Meet the staff and volunteers. Proceeds from the stand will support homeless animals at the shelter.

4-H/FFA entries
Shenandoah County 4-H and FFA beef heifer entries are due Monday at the Shenandoah County Extension office. Information: 540-459-6140.

Virginia 529
Handley Library will host representatives from Virginia 529 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday to discuss Virginia’s paid tuition program. Senior Gaming
Warren County Parks and Recreation will host Senior Gaming for residents 55 and older 10 a.m.-noon on Mondays, Monday through Aug. 29, and 3-5 p.m. on Fridays, May 6 through Sept. 2 at the Warren County Community Center. Studies show playing games is healthy for the mind and body and may help present Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Defense class
