The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will host a community meeting and ice cream social at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the North Warren Volunteer Fire Hall, 266 Rockland Court, Front Royal.
The DEQ will present a draft plan, created with input from the community, to make Crooked, West and Stephens Run and Willow Brook safe for swimming and recreation. The meeting will kick-off a 30-day public comment period on the plan.
Friday is the deadline for current and former members of Shenandoah County 4-H and FFA to apply for the 4-H Dairy Club Endowed Scholarship to further their education. Any area of study qualifies with preference given to candidates who have dairy experience. Information: 459-6140.
