Rotary club
The Rotary Club of New Market will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Wednesday at the Shenvalee Golf Resort in Miller Grille.

The guest speaker will be Jeffry Vergara, who will describe how he went from an overweight and out-of-condition owner of a rebuilding and renovation company to become a triathlete and participant in the Ironman triathlons.


Animal habitat program
The Wildlife Center of Virginia will bring some of its animal ambassadors and talk about native Virginia wildlife at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg.

Teen night
A night specifically designed for teens to listen to music, play tabletop games and do crafts will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Handley Library in Winchester.


Nonfiction writers’ group
The Handley Regional Library and Stewart Bell Jr. Archives will host the first presentation for the nonfiction writer’s group at 6:30 pm. Wednesday in the Benham Gallery.

Special guest will be author John Flood, who will talk about how to develop a nonfiction project.

School volunteers
Four area residents have been recognized by Shenandoah County Public Schools as division-level volunteers of the year:
• Elementary level: Cheryl Felts, W.W. Robinson Elementary.
• Middle level: Karen Whetzel, North Fork Middle.
• Secondary level: Melinda Sybolt, Central High.
• Student: Tyler Hinkle, Stonewall Jackson High.
