New additions to the Warren County Fair

The Warren County Fair board has a fun-filled schedule of events for area residents taking place throughout next week’s fair.

The Warren County Fair will be held from Monday through Aug. 6 at the Warren County Fairgrounds

Major events taking place at this year include a monster truck show, beauty pageant, truck and tractor pull and 4-H events, said Kandi Lamb, Warren County Fair Association board member and secretary.

Wednesday’s demolition derby will conclude with the largest first place prize ever given of $2,500, she said.

Family night will be held on Tuesday, with lower ticket prices and a fireworks display.

New to the fair this year is a power wheel demo derby on Family Night for kids ages 3 to 10.

“So they can bring out their power wheels and we put balloons on them and they have to pop each other’s balloons,” Lamb said. “The kid with the last balloon unpopped is the winner. I’m super excited.”

The kids will also receive medals and trophies during this event.

She said Warren County Fire and Rescue will also put on an educational demonstration that same night. A fire demonstration will be held at dusk to teach people how a single match can burn down an entire house. They will also speak about the importance of fire extinguishers. Fire trucks, boats and other equipment will be on display at the fair as well.

A free children’s area will be on site with a wooden train set and other games for children.

For entertainment, she said Marty Stewart will perform at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5 on the main stage.

A “Kiss” tribute band will play at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on the main stage.

Lamb said typical attendance for the fair in years past has been 15,000 to 18,000 people.

“Of course we would love to have more than that,” she said.
