The Sandy Hook Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization will hold a back-to-school carnival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the school.
Activities include indoor and outdoor games, silent auction, vendors/crafters, a books swap with Kiwanis and much more. Rain date is Oct. 1.

District Delegate Christopher E. Collins is partnering with Golden Seal Enterprises Inc. to hold a symposium on domestic violence from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and next Saturday at 230 Aviation Dr. Winchester.
Each day attendees will rotate through seminars focusing on domestic violence-related topics.
Local law enforcement, psychologists, self-defense instructors and nonprofit agencies will present nine hours of information and training. Lunch will be provided.
Collins will join guests Congresswoman Barbara Comstock, state House Delegates Randy Minchew and Todd Gilbert, Sheriffs Les Taylor and Lenny Millholland, of Winchester and Frederick County respectively, and representatives from local commonwealth attorneys’ offices in a roundtable discussion to answer questions about current legislation efforts and hear concerns. The symposium concludes each day with keynote speaker Spenser Wempe, Miss West Virginia 2011.
