Card showers
A card shower is planned for Bernard L. Stokes, who will celebrate his 89th birthday Aug. 23. Cards can be sent to 103 Lee Burke Road, Front Royal 22630.

Campbell reunion
The families of Henry and Mary Wood Campbell will hold a reunion at noon Sunday at Bing Crosby Park, Shelter 5, Front Royal.

Smith-White reunion
The families of John William and Hattie Melton Smith and J. Robert and Myrtle Smith White will hold a reunion from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the R.R. Donnelly shelter at Signal Knob Park and Playground in Strasburg.

Those attending are asked to bring covered dishes and drinks to share. Plates, cups and utensils will be provided.

Himelright reunion
The Himelright family will hold a reunion from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Woodbine Farm Market, 5199 John Marshall Highway, Strasburg. Those attending should note the new location, and bring a covered dish.

Bowman, Epard reunion
The Bowman and Epard families will hold a reunion at 4 p.m. Sunday at W.O. Riley Park in Woodstock. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish.

Hospital bazaar
The Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has vendor applications for its holiday bazaar on Nov. 12 at the hospital’s front desk.

Cash party
The Strasburg Chamber of Commerce will hold a cash party starting at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Strasburg Moose Lodge. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Tickets, which are $30 per person, includes dinner, beverages and a chance to win the grand prize of $1,000. Only 300 tickets will be available. Information, tickets: 465-3187 or

Narrow Passage DAR
Several members of the Narrow Passage chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended a tea honoring State Regent Judith Joy Surber on Aug. 6 at Montpelier, the home of James and Dolly Madison, north of Charlottesville.

Attending were Honorary State Regent Ann Hunter, Thelma Bussey and Susan Walls. Surber was presented with an American flag that had flown over the Capitol in Washington on March 16, James Madison’s birthday.
