Card showers

Our Health
Our Health Inc. will host its monthly First Wednesday Healthy Living and Farmer’s Market event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday on the Kendall Community Campus, 329 N. Cameron St., Winchester.

Learn Spanish
Bowman Library in Stephens City will host Spanish lessons at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays this month.
Children and their parents will learn the Spanish language through the use of games, songs, puppets and picture books. Information: www.handleyregional.org.

Bible school
The Linden and Markham United Methodist churches will hold a joint vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Linden United Methodist Church, 13466 John Marshall Highway for children in kindergarten through the sixth grade. The theme is “Jesus Is My Rock.”

Book drop-off
Friends of Handley Regional Library will sponsor a book drop-off at Bowman Library in Stephens City from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for its fall used-book sale in October. Copp reunion
The Copp family will hold a reunion at 5 p.m. Saturday at W.O. Riley Park in Woodstock.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and drinks. Paper products will be provided.

Books & Barks
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will hold its Books and Barks program at 10:10 a.m. Saturday for developing readers to read with a trained therapy dog. Information: 540-635-3153.

Ice cream social
An ice cream social will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 15716 Back Road, Strasburg.
Five of a Kind will provide music. Benefit: Free Clinic and Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter.

Spiker reunion
The families of the late Charles and Mary Spiker will hold a reunion on Sunday at the Lion’s shelter in Strasburg. Lunch will be at 12:30 p.m.

Active shooter workshops
The Shenandoah County Chamber of Commerce, with the help of both the Strasburg and Woodstock police departments, will host two active shooter workshops to prepare businesses in what to do if an active shooter walks into their establishment.
• The Strasburg workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Strasburg Town Hall.
• The Woodstock workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Shenandoah County Government Center in Woodstock.
