Rouss Centre
A public meeting of a new theater organization, Rouss Centre for the Arts, in New Market, is scheduled at 7 p.m. today at the New Market Town Hall.

Bowman Library
Bowman Library in Stephens City will hold the following story-time programs in September:
Paws for Reading with therapy dogs: 1 p.m., Friday and Sept. 17.
Story time for ages 2-5: 11 a.m., Sept. 14, 21 and 28.
Baby time for ages birth to 15 months: 11 a.m., Sept. 15, 22 and 29.
Toddler time for ages 3 and under: 11 a.m., Sept. 19 and 26.
Twilight Tales for all ages: 6 p.m., Sept. 20 and 27.
Preschool time for ages 3 and up: 11 a.m., Sept. 24.

Sweet Adelines
The Shenandoah Valley Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines will hold its annual yard sale starting at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday at 500 Lanny Drive, Winchester.
Members will give a mini concert on the lawn at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Gospel service
Brother Raymond Staubs will be the guest preacher for a special service at 7 p.m. Friday at Guiding Light Gospel Church in Winchester.
Special music will be provided by Love and Faithfullness Church and Grace Christian Ministries.

Master Gardeners
The Shenandoah County Master Gardeners will be available to answer home horticultural questions from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Strasburg Farm Market at Pot Town Organics. Information: 459-6140.

Fall festival
White Hall United Methodist Church on will hold a fall festival and yard party starting at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 3265 Apple Pie Ridge Road, Winchester, six miles past James Wood High School.
Featured will be homemade food, an auction of handmade items and theme baskets at 6 p.m. and homemade ice cream and desserts. Ten percent of profits will be split between Reese Burdett and victims of the West Virginia flood.

Library programs
Samuels Public Library in Front Royal will hold the following programs on Saturday:
Books and Barks: 10:10 a.m., for developing readers to read with a trained therapy dog.
Discuss This: 2 p.m., for ages 12 to 19 who are inspired by good books, articles, movies, art, drawing and playing music.

Moomaw, Mumaw reunion
The Moomaw and Mumaw families will hold a reunion at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hudson Cross Roads Community Center. Those attending are asked to bring a picnic lunch.

Snarr reunion
The Snarr family will hold a reunion starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon Church Community Center.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Plates, utensils and drinks will be provided.

Sneaker soiree
Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley will hold a sneaker soiree celebrating its fifth anniversary from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 8 at Valerie Hill Vineyard & Winery, 1687 Marlboro Road, Stephens City.
Featured will be food from local restaurants, wine, raffles and live music. Guests are encouraged to pair their party attire with their favorite sneakers. There will be prizes for sneaker-wearers throughout the evening.
The nonprofit program for girls in third through eighth grades, inspires them to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
