Winchester Trout Unlimited has joined with Escutcheon Brewing in hosting a “Bar Fly” event at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester.
Anglers will learn how to tie some fishing flies. No fly-tying or fly-fishing experience necessary. Participants are encouraged to bring their fly-tying vise and any food they wish to eat or share (no drinks). Information: Bill at 540-722-2620.
The Handley Puppeteers will perform at 10 a.m. Thursday at the New Market Area Library.
Drawings for the grand prize for the summer reading program will be held.
Summer story times
Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown will host a free summer story time at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Teen performers from Handley Regional Library will present a free puppet show at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shenandoah County Library in Edinburg.

“Oh! God” shown
Unity of the Shenandoah in Stephens City will show the movie “Oh! God” starring John Denver and George Burns, at 7 p.m. Friday. Information: 540-868-1903.
The Warren County Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled the following classes at the Warren County Community Center, 538 Villa Ave., Front Royal:
• Ballet I: 6:30-7:15 p.m., Tuesdays starting Aug. 16 for six weeks, for ages 5-9. Cost: $55.
• Ballet II: 7:30-8:15 p.m., Wednesdays starting Aug. 17 for six weeks, for ages 5-9. Cost: $55.
• Little Movers Ballet: 6-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays starting Aug. 16 at the community center; 6-6:30 p.m., Wednesdays starting Aug. 17 at the Health and Human Service Complex Café, 465 W. 15th St., Front Royal, six weeks, ages 2-4. Cost: $35.
